Nang dahil sa dumadaming kaso ng DENGUE sa Pilipinas, particularly sa General Santos City, at sa naging karanasan din ng Davao Blogger na si Ate Ria Abella Jose (click here to see her blog post), naisipan ng SOCSKSARGEN Bloggers headed by Sir Avel Manansala, Sir Orman Manansala, Ate Sheila Dumalay, Ate Donna Mae Congson and Sir Gilbert Tan na gumawa ng community service in order to help those people na nangangailangan ng dugo especially those dengue victims.

Red Cross Volunteers and members of SOCSKSARGEN Bloggers will assist you on the activity but first, before donating your blood, you must read these guideliness from Philippine Red Cross Website:

How to donate blood:

1. Preparation before donating blood

• Have enough rest and sleep.
• No alcohol intake 24 hours prior to blood donation.
• No medications for at least 24 hours prior to blood donation.
• Have something to eat prior to blood donation, avoid fatty foods.
• Drink plenty of fluid like water or juice.

2. Steps in donating blood

• Have your weight taken.
• Register honestly and completely the donor registration form.
• Have your blood type and hemoglobin checked.
• A physician will examine the blood donor.
• Actual donation. The amount of blood to be donated will depend on the donor's weight and blood pressure. Either 350cc or 450cc and would usually take 10 minutes or less.
• A 5 to 10 minute rest and plenty of fluid intake is necessary after donation.

3. What to do after blood donation

• Drink plenty of fluids like water or juice.
• Refrain from stooping down after blood donation.
• Refrain from strenuous activities like:
• Lifting heavy objects
• Driving big vehicles such as bus, trucks, etc.
• Operating big machines
• Avoid using the punctured arm in lifting heavy objects.
• Apply pressure on the punctured site and lift the arm in case the site is still bleeding.
• If there is discoloration and swelling on the punctured site, you may apply cold compress for 24 hours and then hot compress for the next 24 hours.
• If there is dizziness, just lie down feet elevated. Drink plenty of juice, in just a few minutes or so it will pass.

Blood donation: Basic Requirements

• Blood donation helps save lives. Find out if you're eligible to donate blood and what to expect if you decide to donate.

1. The need for blood is great. On any given day, more than two thousand of blood units are transfused to patients in our country. Some may need blood during surgery. Others depend on it after an accident or because they have a disease that requires blood components. The Philippine National Red Cross approximately supplies one-fourth of the country’s national blood requirements.
2. If you're in good health, you can probably donate. Find out about blood donation and what to expect if you decide to give.

Who can donate blood?
-> You can donate blood if you:

• Are in good health
• Between 16 to 65 years old (16 and 17 years old need parents consent)
• Weigh at least 110 pounds
• With a blood pressure between: Systolic: 90-160 mmHg; Diastolic: 60-100 mmHg
• Pass the physical and health history assessments

PNRC Blood Service Facilities carefully screen potential donors. The screening guidelines are necessary to ensure that blood donation is safe for you and that it's safe for the person who receives your blood.

During the screening process, you fill out a blood donation questionnaire form that includes direct questions about behaviours known to carry a higher risk of blood-borne infections — infections that are transmitted through the blood. These behaviours include prostitution, intravenous drug use and others. A trained physician asks you about your medical/ health history and conducts a physical examination, which includes checking your blood pressure, pulse and temperature. All of the information from this evaluation is kept strictly confidential.

During your blood donation screening procedure, a small sample of blood taken from a finger prick is used to check your hemoglobin level, the oxygen-carrying component of your blood. If your hemoglobin concentration is normal and you've met all the other screening requirements, you can donate blood.

Sudden Bardeen Mini Reunion @ Vanessa's

After stressful school works and activities, and blogging at the same time, ngayon lang ako na-enjoy. Sa sobrang tuwa ko, nakalimutan ko na may lakad pa pala ako by 8PM (so I went home 9PM, damn late for like one hour!)

Well, Vanessa's 18th Birthday Bash turned out to be a mini-reunion of our batch in high school, Four Bardeen ('yan ang tawag sa section namin). Nakigulo kami sa bahay ng debutante, kumain at nagkatuwaan. Darn missin' those guys, all over again! By the way, thanks Vanessa for inviting us to your birthday. Great food, great experience. So darn great!

Maraming nagtatanong sa akin, even sa blog post ko, regarding the upcoming MSU SASE Entrance Examination for School Year 2011-2012, that's next year, for incoming freshmen.

So, according to MSU-IIT SASE Online Application, there are two ways on how to apply: either via online or non-online process. You must fill all the requirements stated below:

• Certification for High School Principal that the applicant (that's you) is graduating student, Form 138-A (Report Card) or Certificate of Completion from Bureau of Alternative Learning System (BALS) for Out of School Youth.
• Two (2) copies of 2x2 ID pictures for non-online applicant, Digital ID for online applicants.
• Payment of P200.oo (about $5) for Testing Fee: Online Applicants must deposit the amount thru MSU PNB Account No. 35-392-380001-5 on or before September 6, 2010. Other applicants pay directly to MSU Campus Registrar / Admission Office / SASE Test Center Coordinators at the Test Center at least two (2) days before examination date.
• Duly accomplished - Application Form

For Online Applicants, just follow these instructions on how to apply via online.

For Non-Online Applicants, Application Forms are available at the Admission Office or Registrar's Office of each MSU Campus, Test Center Examiners, Public or Private HS Principals or from Senior Class Advisers.

The Official Candidates of Miss MSU 2010

Probably the most awaited portion of being an MSUan, is the crowning for the next Miss MSU.

Parang nanonood ka ng Ms. Universe, cheering for your bet with all excitement na sana makapasok ang bet mo, hanggang sa finals. Kaya nga lang hindi sa TV. There will be more or less three hundred students coming from different colleges are expected to watch it live at the University Gym this coming September 12, a day before the Grand Opening of University’s Intramurals.

Just like what happened last year, napuno halos ang University Gym because of the said event. (For Recap) Eva Cynthia Flores of College of Education hailed as Ms. MSU 2009 (and Ms. Tourism 2009 at the same time, and was a representative of GenSan for Reyna ng Aliwan 2010 in Aliw Theatre last April) with her first runner-up Genevieve Mutia of BA & A (and currently competing for Ms. GenSan 2010) and Shenny Toribio from CNSM as the second runner-up.

Travel Advisory issued by Hong Kong Gov't vs. RP

During Hostage Taking, MPD-SWAT Team on action (photos by Yahoo! Philippines)

After the tragic hostage taking last August 23 in Luneta, Manila, the Hong Kong Government's Security Bureau issued and released a travel advisory that tells Philippines is under Severe Threat to all HK Travellers as you can see in this website.

This is according to Hong Kong Security Bureau's Site stating Philippines is under Severe Threat and it tells that HK citizens are warned to avoid the country.

According to ABS-CBN News, the hostage drama took 9 hours, it was started at 10AM when Rolando Mendoza, a disgruntled ex-policeman, took hostage a bus load of Hong Kong tourists.

There are at least four people confirmed dead, including Mendoza, and one in critical condition. The four survivors are still in the hospital. According to the doctor, they are in severe trauma and somewhat unconscious.

PiNoy will hold a Press Conference in Malacañang Palace after the siege.

I'm a BLOGGER.

BLOGGER is a person who writes regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other materials such as graphics or video. It could be a person who writes about his or her everyday experiences or thoughts and feelings toward something.

Oo nga. 'Yan ang BLOGGER. I can consider myself as a BLOGGER. Halata naman, di ba? Well, hindi ko na 'to patatagalin pa. Well, here's my Top 10 Emerging and Influential Blogs for 2010. :)

• Ganda Ever So Much - so far, this is the best online diary magazine in the blogosphere. Why? Kasi si Sir Orman Manansala, famous banker and the author of the said blog, mahilig mag-emote sa kanyang blog! Lahat na ng emotions ng tao nandoon na sa kanyang blog, mapa-laugh trip ng kanyang buhay, bigo at sawi sa pag-ibig, nakakalokang trabaho niya as an Event Organizer, at huwag niyong kalimutan ang kanyang food trip! All-in-one blogsite dedicated para sa lahat!
• Alexis Chua - sa wala'y pabor pabor, mano-nosebleed ka dito sa kanyang "terms and definitions" kasi ang talino ng kaibigan ko! Fresh Graduate from Mindanao State University, hanggang ngayon wala pa ring trabaho and still searching! This blog is all about his personal interests in gadgets, in life and as a writer. Tamang-tama talaga na tawagin siyang "Mr. Epistaxis" or "Mr. Emo". Before checking his blog, prepare muna kayo ng tissue paper, ok? Haha.
• A Thousand Ships - isa din 'tong nakakanosebleed na blog. Actually, it is a photoblog. Minsan nga, nakakainggit ang kanyang mga pictures as Sir Mandi Nicolas shares his unforgettable moments captured on his DSLR as he traveled around the world, meeting new friends of different races and cultures and writes his experiences about it. Kaya nga, ang layo na ang kanyang narating sa buhay.

One of the most influential blogs in the internet ito para sa akin because Donna Mae Congson makes us (also my fellow classmates, facebook users) more beautiful and good-looking with her blog posts. Well, I can't wait for your Food Blog!
• Plurk Designs - kung naghahanap man lang kayo ng Plurk Layouts, dito na kayo! I admit it, I'm a certified Plurk Addict. Lahat nalang, pino-post ko sa plurk. Ang pangit naman din kapag walang kadesign-design ang Plurk profile mo, right? So with the skills na meron si Sir Lyle Santos na wala ako, he created Plurk Designs dot com, dedicated for those Plurk users that needs a complete make-over in their profile for free!
• Kusina ni Maria - nagugutom ako sa tuwing bumibisita ako dito sa food blog na 'to. It's all about FOODS, FOODS, and more FOODS. Ate Ria Abella Jose is a well-known blogger in Davao, and a Junior Chef at the same time! Nako, talented pala 'tong Davao Blogger na 'to! Kaya she loves to cook, eat, eat, eat and eat.
• Get Prettified - Davao Blogger and Fashionista Ate Brendel Balaga writes about fashion, beauty and lifestyle on her Get Prettified Blog. Probably one of the most beautiful bloggers in Mindanao, siya na 'ata ang may blog na halos lahat ng cosmetics and accessories, ginamit niya! And don't forget her do's and don'ts regarding health, beauty and lifestyle!
• Anything Goes - Ate Sheila Dumalay's personal blog tells about her capabilities and experiences as a mother, wife and a friend. Anything Goes nga talaga, mapa-health man, beauty, movie reviews, food critics, photography.

• GenSan Gems - Ate Gay Carrillo's Personal Blog. Parang katulad 'tong blog ko. Random posts. Well, her blog tells her memorable experiences with her friends and family. Siguro, pwede 'to maging pet blog, kasi karamihan sa kanyang blog post 'eh tungkol sa kanyang cute na aso named "PASTA" and indeed, fun to read her posts! :)
• Lastly, (sa wakas!) Ako si Rabsky - personal, public (?), news, event, etc (end-of-thinking-capacity) blog of one of the youngest bloggers in GenSan (siguro?), Ravi Villanueva, yours truly. Well, I blog about anything that gives attention to my co-bloggers, classmates and even my avid readers (kung meron haha).

An Enchanted Resort named Amandari Cove

Amandari, from Balinese word means Peaceful Spirit, is the former Dacera Farm Resort and now owned by entrepreneur couple Ricky and Tess Almanzor. Mas lalo nilang pinaganda ang dating Dacera and renamed it as Amandari Cove: An Enchanted Resort within the city.

I think my last visit in that resort (Dacera Farm Resort) is when I was in First Year High School (5 years ago), the place was cool, environment-friendly ang lugar except for not-so-good facilities like the pool, comfort rooms plus their cottages.

And after 5 years, nakapasok na ulit ako sa Dacera. But it’s not Dacera anymore. Everything has changed a lot, from the entrance to the reception area, and then the pool got renovated, plus cool and relaxing cottages with additional hostels ready for occupancy, anytime.

The first thing that I noticed in the resort is their Bali-type Entrance building, leading to two stairs. Upstairs for the two Conference Halls and downstairs is for the Information Area (just like in hotel), Coffee Shop and Restaurant and to the resort itself. Now it looks more elegant and comfy, ideal for travelers and other special occasions.

There are two swimming pools in the resort: the Olympic-sized pool, which was renovated and now turned into commodious one, and the usual swimming pool, which was also renovated and expanded its size to make it bigger. This will make Amandari Cove as the venue of swimming events and competitions and more likely, will be a venue for beauty pageants and bikini opens in the region as well. For only 50 pesos for adults and 30 pesos for children, you can enjoy the relaxing coolness of the waters of Amandari.

Robinsons Place Gensan: Mas Maganda Dito!

Naitanong ko na 'yan sa sarili ko, pero I couldn't find the answer, until a big commercial complex entered, constructed and finally served hundreds of thousands of Generals and maybe millions of tourist around the country in GenSan. Ano 'yun? Halika't tuklasan natin.

Flood ka! Anong nangyari?

Wala na akong maisip na i-blog since I have a stable Internet Connection but still (alam niyo na), I can do daily blog post starting now! Para naman may magawa na ako kahit every second man lang, diba?

Recently, umuulan nang todong-todo kasi naman rainy season. But actually I'm not expecting this thing to happened.

It was 7:35pm, August 9, when the rain poured from the atmosphere. Biglang lumakas hanggang sa unti-unting bumabaha sa labas ng bahay namin.

"Sa labas ng bahay namin. As you can see, naging isang malaking swimming pool ang bakuran"

Ayun na nga, first time kong naka-experience ng pagbaha sa labas ng bahay mismo, with the fact that hinding-hindi talaga mismo, ever, bumabaha sa baranggay namin. My mom told me that it is the first time na nangyari 'to. So due to my curiosity, I stepped outside of the room, looked at the flooded area and lumakad sa maruming tubig.

Haha, first time ko ngang lumusob sa tubig baha ng GenSan, at mismo sa bakuran pa namin nangyari, though hinding-hindi ko makakalimutan ang Manila Experience ko nang biglang bumagyo roon.

Nagsilabasan din ang mga kapitbahay namin telling us that the water just invaded inside of their houses! Wala rin silang magagawa but wait for the water na huhupa. Parang nasa malaking river ako, kulang nalang mamingwit ng isda! Hahaha.

"Super don't try this, huh? Hanggang bagtak ko ang baha. After kong lumakad, biglang kumati ang mga paa ko."

Super weird experience though through this, may mapupulot tayo na lesson. This situation only tells that we need to take good care of our environment. Because the reason kung bakit bumaha sa amin because of uncollected garbage. That's our major problem, lalong-lalo na sa daanan namin. Walang nagkokolekta ng mga basura sa amin. So, the residents have no choice but to leave the garbage sacks on the corner. Kaya nga naman naipon ang mga basura sa imburnal at hindi nakadaloy ang tubig baha.

Global Warming has something to do with it. So if we don't act right now, baka hanggang ulo na ang baha dito! Haha. :)

2nd McDonald's GenSan Opening Soon

After McDonald's GenSan first branch opened last October 2004 (I don't know the exact date), another McDo branch will invade the city but this time, the distance between the first branch will be just.... 50 meters away!

McDonald's KCC Mall will be the newest branch of McDonald's in GenSan. At least this time, nasa loob na ng mall. Sana gawing 24/7 ang J. Catolico Branch! :)

Naisip kita, Sir Orman!

Blogging is my atmosphere. I miss blogging so much. Mahirap talaga basta estudyanteng blogger ka. You need time, effort and mostly, patience if you’ll make a blog article.

May nakilala akong tao, he’s a full-time blogger and I don’t know what he has right now, basta I can define him as cuddly, happy-go-lucky type, friendly, loving and a great friend to everybody. Hindi ko lang alam kung bakit everyday nalang siya nagboblog. Minsan nakakatamad ang ganyan, right? Well, this man certainly loves to write and publish his experiences. It’s just like his own online diary that everyone could read and state their comments. And because of that, mas lalong sumikat itong taong ito, for being one of the most visited personal blogs in the world wide web. Nakakawindang.

Palaka, hindi ko rin alam kung bakit palaka ang kanyang napili sa kadami-daming pwedeng magustuhan, bakit palaka? I forgot to ask him, “Why frogs? What’s with them na bakit gustung-gusto mo sila?”. Mahihiya naman ako kung tatanungin ko siya nang ganun. I personally met this guy when I joined the Plurk Grand Eyeball, I think, last 2009 at Genee Resto, Oval Plaza. I was with Chariz Mundo, co-blogger. I met some of my friends in Plurk as well as in Facebook. Mga bloggers din pala sila. I had the opportunity to meet him, and also his brother, the author of famous GenSantos.Com. I think the most memorable one para sa kanya is when they gave him a wood-carve frog, medyo malaki in size, and it was so cute. He was emotional that time. He thanked everyone for that surprise gift.

I actively joined their group, the SOCSKSARGEN Bloggers, composed of different members in different places in Region 12. I blog often, I plurked a lot and I changed my status in Facebook everyday. Ganyan ang buhay ko when I joined them. Minsan, mahihiya ka ‘pang mag-usap with bloggermates and to the big bosses but this man told us na “don’t be shy”, after ‘nun wala na kaming hiya. Haha. But literally nandoon pa ‘yung feeling na nahihiya pa kami, especially ako, towards other bloggers.

Parati ko rin siyang makasama sa mga events, one of them was the SOCSKSARGEN SUMMER SAFARI last May. The night before the event, ‘dun kami natulog sa kanyang mahiwagang kwarto, with Alexis and Xyrilloid. Hindi ko alam kung bakit ‘dun ako napadpad. Alexis and Xyril explained to me na ‘dun daw sila matutulog, in preparation for the summer safari. Ako na ngenga, hindi ako nakapaghanda man lang ng maisusuot. But well, I came up with my final decision na magse-sleep over sa kanila. ‘Dun ko narealize na habang sa pagtulog niya, parang may malaking barko na papaalis ng pantalan. Sobrang lakas. If you know what I mean. Hahaha. Peace. But kidding aside, through sleeping, ‘dun siya kumukuha ng lakas in order for him to continue his blogging activity. Akala ko wala siyang pahinga. Sa kanyang mga blog posts recently, lahat broken hearted ang topic, his journeys and experiences, etc. (End of Thinking Capacity)

He’s really a fat guy. Kaya nga cuddly, parang cuddly bear. Sabi pa ng iba, sarap niyang yakapin. Well, hindi ko pa naman nayakap ang taong iyon. Maybe some of his suitors around love him so much because of his cuddliness. Sarap daw siyang gawing unan. Try to ask him kung totoo kasi hindi ko pa nasubukan. Haha. 

He’s a good manager, entrepreneur and great motivator. He’s like the big boss of every events in the city; manager of a well-known banking institution, a great entrepreneur of his own business (probably monkey business) and a loving uncle, friend and probably lover. That’s Sir Orman Manansala. If you don’t know him, well hindi ka taga GenSan.

I probably forced myself to do this blog post. Hahaha. Just kidding. This will be my last entry for the GESM Contest Week 7. Active nga ako sa Facebook, Plurk but not on the blogging side. Busy nga kayang maging estudyante. Thanks for the Portable Netbook, anywhere nagawa ko ‘tong piece na ‘to. Kahit sa lamay ng kaibigan ko, sa pagsakay ng tricycle, sa paggawa ng ES51 ng aking kaibigan, at during Prelim Exam ng Management 101 kanina. Multitasker ako. Kung kaya isipin, kayang gawin. And Sir Orman is a good example of that person. “Everything’s possible.”
