World Class Amenities of SM Cinema General Santos

SM Cinemas will bring the up-to-the-latest movies from local and international scene up to the special screens wherein only SM Cinemas would be able to show such film on theaters to the next level!

According to Mr. Avel Manansala's blog Gensantos.com, SM Digital Theater is the new approach to enjoy movies. It is a set of equipment consisting of a digital camera projector, sound system and server as defined by the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI). The digitized movie is stored by a computer/server which “serves” it to a digital projector for each screening of the movie. (Mall wars!)
Well, I'm still curious about the difference of an ordinary movie theater to a Digital Theater of SM Cinemas. According to an info provided by SM Cinema, here are the some features of a digital theater:

• Projector system: SM Digital Theater uses a hard drive wherein the digital copy of the movie is downloaded and is directly projected to the screen. This digital system shows crisp, clearer, and brighter, without scratches and lapses while showing the movie. It is also capable of showing 3D movies. While a 35mm cinema still uses the 35mm celluloid film which is prone to seeing scratches and lapses while viewing the movie.

• Sound: The SM Digital Theater uses the state-of-the-art Dolby Digital sound system which magnificently completes the unsurpassed total movie experience. 35 mm cinemas still uses the conventional 5.1 sound system which disperses sound through many speakers making it nearly impossible to locate the origin of the sound.

The only thing to watch out for this opening of SM Cinemas General Santos is the showing of much-awaited movie, The Bourne Legacy, wherein half of the entire movie was taken in the Philippines, plus I really love The Bourne Series (from the original character Matt Damon). Aside from Bourne Legacy (showing on August 10), there are also lots of movies to choose from, including the SM Cinexclusive The Ring 3 (or Sadako 3D in Japan released on May 2012). "SM will have exclusive rights to “Sadako The Ring 3,” which will premiere in the country on August 8" according to ABS-CBNNews.com Portal. Since I am excited with the opening, of course everyone does, I will treat myself to watch The Bourne Legacy for the first time in SM Cinemas General Santos on August 10 since they'll be giving away freebies from SM Cinemas for the first 1000 customers!
