The country was in state of shocked, outraged and grieved by the highest level massacre in Maguindanao Province.
It is really very disturbing to us that such atrocity can be done so blatantly, so callously and so brutally, in broad daylight with arrogant impunity. It is a sad proof of lawlessness and the utter failure in governance into which our country has fallen. This crime was possible only because of the prevailing disregard for law of those governing and other human rights violation.
We call upon her Excellency Madame Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, her Crisis Management Group, Law Enforcers and Justices to make a swift and thorough investigation and to punish the perpetrators without sparing any sacred cows in this worst election-related violence in our country.
We unite ourselves with those who condemn and express their outrage and this heinous crime and who call for the dissolution of private armies and dynasties. We also unite ourselves in prayer for a fundamental transformation of our society.
