Gensan's Tuna Festival Experience 2010: Mardi Gras Competition

Unknown | Wednesday, September 29, 2010 | 10comments
Mardi Gras Street Dancing Competition is one of the most-awaited portions of the Tuna Festival Experience 2010. Mas lalong pinakulay ng different contingents from Elementary and High School ang daanan ng Pioneer Avenue as they danced with the beat of Centerpoint's Whoa Gensan! :)

Pagkatapos ng electrifying dance moves by the contingents, they showcased their 7-minute streetdance showdown at the Lagao Gymnasium, the Mindanao's biggest indoor gymnasium. Doon nagpasiklaban ng galing ang mga kalahok sa Mardi Gras. Well, special thanks to Gensantos.com for providing the livestream of the said event. Because of this, ang mga hindi makapunta sa Lagao Gym ay nakinuod nalang sa kani-kanilang desktop computers and laptops. And so proud to be a member of the Web team! Headed by Sir Avel Manansala with Kuya Alexis Chua, Sir Lyle Santos, Kuya Marz Bendol, and among others. :)

The Mardi Gras Competition at Lagao Gym ended successfully. This event was made possible by the Local Government Unit of Gensan, major and minor sponsors of this year's Tuna Festival Experience and to the organizers, as well as the people of Gensan. To Sir Orman Manansala, congratulations for a job well done! :)

Unknown | Wednesday, September 29, 2010 | 5comments
Bidang-bida ang Tuna sa Gensan's Tuna Festival. Akalain niyo naman sandamakmak na Tuna ang inihanda during the Sashimi Night at the Al Fresco of Robinson's Place Gensan last September 25!

Sashimi Night @ Robinson's Al Fresco. Thanks Brian Dan Congson.

I had this opportunity to experience Gensan's Tuna Festival Sashimi Night, part of the Tuna Festival Experience and was organized by beauty and lifestyle blogger, and also restobar owner Donna Mae Congson, with SOX and Davao Bloggers.

Andaming nagsipuntahan, mapababae man o lalaki, may ngipin o wala, basta't nasiyahan sila sa handog na tugtuging banda by our very own Centerpoint Band. (Still on LSS mode with their Whoa Gensan!, official theme music for Tuna Festival) Izek’s Quest, BlackDize and Kuerdas Band were also there to perform. There were also three Deejays took the airwaves as they played music mixes in between the band sets, international artist DJ Jeri Funk, DJ Jbugz and DJ Young Genz.

Special thanks to the sponsors of the Sashimi Night: Grab-a-Crab, Bigby’s, JUNJI, Piyesta KTV, Restobar, Giacominos, BigBen, Jam's and Pacific Seas.
Special thanks to Brian Dan Congson for providing us some wonderful photos during Sashimi Night @ the Al Fresco.

See you next Sashimi Night, Generals!

Monday's Tuna Festival Experience!

Unknown | Monday, September 20, 2010 | 1comments
The 2010 Tuna Festival Month of September that is being handled by the Tuna Festival Council headed by Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio and the GenSan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (GSCCCII) started on a high note last week guided by the theme "Go Global GenSan: We Are Ready for the World".

Last Sunday, the whole city commemorated the 42nd Charter Day Anniversary with a mass at the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish Church and an Ecumenical Prayer and short program at the Gen. Paulino Santos Shrine inside the Plaza Heneral Santos. It was attended by the city’s business and soci-civic leaders, government workers and officials led by Congressman Jun Acharon, Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio, Sarangani Vice-Governor Steve Chiongbian-Solon, the city councilors, among other personages. Vice Governor Steve Chiongbian-Solon’s presence made the event more meaningful as it was his grandfather, the former Congressman James Chiongbian who authored the bill creating General Santos City 42 years ago.

An “Almusal Alay sa Kapwa” spearheaded by the CSWDO followed afterwards which offered free breakfast to the city’s less fortunate.

And now, jam-packed activities for this day, September 20, awaits you as we celebrate the Tuna Festival Experience.
  • 7am (Flag Ceremony - Announcement of Events & Activities, City Hall)
  • 9am (San Jose College Jobs Fair Day 1, Robinson's Place GenSan)
  • 5pm (Tuna Festival Week Opening Program, GTX Mardi Gras (One-Dance Presentation) Oval Plaza)
  • 7pm (Release of 42 White Lanterns, Oval Plaza)
  • 7pm (Splash in the Sky, Oval Plaza)
  • 7pm (RMN Live Drama, Covered Court)
  • 8pm (Campus Radio's Disco Sa Oval Plaza)
With all these events, activities and new attractions in store for GTX festival revelers, expect the Tuna Festival Celebration to upgrade its reputation as the 2nd Best Festival in the Philippines, an award given to the Tuna Capital by the the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) in 2009.

Because for sure, this will be the best GenSan Tuna Festival Experience for the generals and their visitors ever making the city truly MAGANDANG GENSAN!

Razon's - Gateway to Halo-Halo Heaven

Unknown | Wednesday, September 15, 2010 | 2comments
Nakatilaw na ba mo sa pinakanamit na Halo-Halo na wala'y daghan na ingredients? (Have you ever tasted a Halo-Halo without too much fixings?)

Razon's Halo-Halo and Palabok has the best Halo-Halo in town! You don't need to travel, sumakay pa ng barko o eroplano papuntang Guagua, Pampanga para matikman ang kanilang Halo-Halo at Palabok, dahil meron na dito sa GenSan! :)

Actually, the business started in Guagua in Pampanga, as a small "carinderia". And now, nasa major cities na sila ng Pilipinas. Hindi namin pinalampas ang pagkakataong makatikim ng famous halo-halo ng Razon's with Bloggers Lumer Jude Doce and Kirzten Seballos.

Razon's Famous Halo-Halo

Topped with 3 slices of Leche Flan, super sweet!

You must try their Special Halo-Halo: topped with three slices of Leche Flan, plus their super daming creamy milk- gives a sweet frisson to your taste buds while eating. The best part of the halo-halo is their shaved ice- super smooth. Unlike other halo-halo na matitigas ang kanilang ice. And of course, not-too-much sahog (fixings) for only 60 Pesos. Sarap balik-balikan!

Sizzling Sisig. The best!

While enjoying the Halo-halo, we decided to try their Sizzling Sisig Plate. Kahit ako, adik sa Sisig! For 75 Pesos, mabubusog ka sa kanilang mainit na Sisig, lagyan mo pa ng kalamansi at sili.

Sizzling Sisig with Rice and Ice Tea, for 75 Pesos! With matching Halo-Halo. :)

After naming kumain, in-introduce ko kay Mama ang kanilang Halo-halo, at dinagdagan niya ito ng isa pang Palabok, their specialty. I must say that it is indeed the perfect pair for the halo-halo because the saltiness of the pansit emphasizes the sweetness of the cold treat. Indeed, the best Palabok in the city! :)

Inside Razon's Halo-Halo and Palabok. I love their Wallpaper. :)

If you want to try their famous halo-halo and palabok, try to visit them at 2nd floor, SunCity Arcade, National Highway, General Santos City. Then don't forget to give your comments on their halo-halo and palabok in my blog! :)
